Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin
The classic tale of horror was written in 1967 with such interest that compelled the readers to come up with a movie version and later, a mini-series. The book slowly builds tension bit-by-bit and offers relief every now-and-then only to make it evaporate in a jiffy. It is about a childless Woodhouse couple, Rosemary and Guy who move into a new neighbourhood cast by a witchcraft spell. It is when they decide to have a child that the story moves on with a meaning. The entire story is woven around Rosemary's baby.
