The Shining by Stephen King

The tale is about Jack Torrance who is a recovering alcoholic writer. He works sometimes as a caretaker to look after the vintage Overlook Hotel.
It is where he is possessed by the supernatural forces leaving his family in danger. The book has a dark tone that lingers in your mind and later inspired a film as well as a television mini-series.
